Kaffir Lime

17 Feb

My 2016 Christmas present from my DS was a Kaffir Lime Tree.  I have lovingly planted in it’s pot and tending as best I know how.  Of course since I added this baby to my collection we have had all sorts of weather ranging from scorching hot to bitterly cold and winds strong enough to blow trees down.

I am rather pleased to see the tree is sprouting new leaves.

Even better, there was a happy dance the garden when I noticed that it’s flowering.

Yarn Chicken

16 Feb

I’m nearly finished my Son’s jumper and it’s become a case of how much longer can I make it before I don’t have enough yarn to finish the ribbed band across the hem.

As it happens, I had enough 🙂  Just needs a wash and pressing into shape, or in knitterly terms – blocking.

Dramatic Sky

15 Feb

I did warn that there would probably be lots of sunset photos this year.  I am amazed at the differences I see every night.

Yarn Dying

14 Feb

I have some rather clever friends who like to dye knitting yarn.  One of the techniques they use is to paint the yarn on knitted fabric.  As I have a number of knitting machines I knit the undyed blanks ready for the dying.

New Ferns

13 Feb

As my last fern purchase has been growing so well, I added to the collection today.  I have a few gaps in my mini fernery, so lets see how well these new babies grow.

Tonight the weather turned wet.  So after so many colourful sunsets the last week, todays was all about the clouds

Piping skills

12 Feb

Today I made a Baileys Chocolate Mousse – yum!

After watching a lot of cooking shows I know that it’s all about the presentation. Out came the piping bag.

I may need more practise but it didn’t affect the rich decadent taste 🙂

Dark and Stormy

11 Feb

As the sunset gave a last gasp of colour tonight, there were some interesting clouds rolling in from the North.  Looked like a storm might be on the way, but we didn’t get any rain.

King of the Castle

10 Feb

Todays photo is a shot of what is no longer there.  My ‘pet’ wallabies were visiting tonight, so I quietly snuck out with camera in hand…… unfortunately I was not quiet enough, and they bounded off into the long grass.

Never mind, there was a bird sitting on the very top of a very tall pine tree up the top of the back yard.  Swung camera, focused and just as I pressed the shutter off he flew.  While I waited and waited and waited, neither the wallabies or the bird returned 😦

But if you zoom in, I rather like the tip of the tree.

Sky on Fire

9 Feb

Tonights sky was amazing.  I was distracted and only caught it at the last gasp.

Am I There Yet?

8 Feb

DS needed some new work attire. He went shopping and managed to fend rather well for himself but I feel he needs some Mothers love.

Next time I feel that urge I will remember he is over 6 feet tall and has very long arms.
