Mountain, Moon, Planet

31 Jan

As we were heading home from our regular Tuesday night quiz I caught a glimpse of the sky doing something interesting.  Unfortunately the photo isn’t amazing, there was a bit too much street light interference but any shot is better than no shot.©2017 Cathy Craig

When I turned around there was a view of the Casino that I had not seen before.  This angle might need some further exploration with my other camera.

Another sunset panorama

19 Jun

I have a view of the sunset that just keeps on giving.  A quick shoot, all handheld right at the tail end of the show.

I started today playing with macro shots again.  Verdict?  Need to use a tripod.

Tonight I had another session with full moon shots.  Cloud free tonight, but I’m not sure how how I got the ghost green moon.

When I pointed the camera towards the sunset I found better shots – I think.

Full Moon

3 Feb

It’s a full moon tonight, so a great opportunity to try some moon photos.  Of course by the time I got home, and got set up heavy cloud was covering the moon.  Just my luck.  Then I had to wait for He Who Suffers to allow me near his tripod.

First shot, camera all on automatic before the heavy cloud covered the moon.

Then followed many failed shots with me attempting full manual mode.  The light was just too low for the autofocus to have a chance and it wasn’t much better for me.  This is the best shot, as you can see form the car headlights in the bottom right it was a long exposure.

Tomorrow night He Who Suffers heads to the local Hackerspace so I will get full use of his tripod (just don’t tell him)

Because I’m lucky!

As we drove home tonight the sunset was rather attractive.  Quick, pullover I instructed hubster – he should be able to read my mind, but still struggles after nearly 24 years, so I had to explain I wanted to take a photo of the sunset.  Unfortunately, camera was at home, so phone had to suffice and it’s not the best representation of what I saw.

Then as we drove up the hill I noticed the lightening of the sky as the moon was about to rise.  Oh, I says, moonrise photo.  “You will be lucky” says hubster, there is too much cloud.  It’s just as well that I’m lucky then 🙂

All I need now is a tripod and the skills to drive shutter and aperture control.  Will work on the manual tomorrow and see what tomorrow’s moonrise brings 🙂
